Blue Ridge mourns the loss of one of our founders, Life Member Bob Freschi.

Blue Ridge Volunteer Fire & Rescue Co. mourns the loss of one of our founders, Life Member Bob Freschi.
For more than 40 years, Bob offered his optimism, enthusiasm, determination, and sales and business skills to help raise funds, run meetings, set high standards for our members, respond to fire and rescue calls, clear the lot and build our current facility, call Bingo, organize golf tournaments, wash dishes, and dance contentedly with the love of his life, Barbara, at our annual banquet. We will dearly miss Bob’s volunteer spirit, his sense of humor, and his loving support. We’ve lost a vital link to our past.

Training Really Is Everything

Training really is everything. Blue Ridge Chief Jason Burns coordinated an intense 2-1/2 week course designed to saturate aspiring firefighters with the realities of fire behavior, attack, rescue, water supply, scene safety… and more.

Thanks to Val Van Meter and Scott Mason with the Winchester Star for coming out last week to cover some of the hands-on learning.
